Our Story

Zach and I met in the Fall semester of our senior year at The University of Alabama. Daniel Conner, a friend from church, invited me to play on his intramural ultimate frisbee team. Daniel also asked Zach to join because they played on UA’s club frisbee team together. I spotted Zach at the first game and thought he was really cute! Over the course of the season I developed a little crush, but I was way too shy to go up to him and introduce myself. My roommate and good friend, Eliza Wiggins, told me “Be bold, Hannah!” because she had heard me talk about my crush on “Fris-bae” for weeks. One night at church I asked Daniel for Zach’s number. For anyone who doesn’t know me well, that is so unlike me! I finally got up the nerve to text Zach, and from then on we started talking and hanging out pretty regularly. He invited me to the frisbee team’s Halloween party, and at first I had no intention of going because it was last minute and I didn’t have a costume. After a lot of convincing from our now mutual friend, Abby Jones, I threw together a costume and showed up. We had so much fun! About a week later, we started dating, and it didn’t take us long to realize this was something special.

After graduation in 2018, Zach began working in Nashville, TN as a structural engineer, and I started dental school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Dating long-distance has been difficult, but we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to visit each other almost every weekend. Fast forward to February 6th, 2021, Zach and I spent the day together playing golf and driving around Nashville. We stopped at the river to walk our dog, Roxy, and to exchange Valentine’s gifts a little early. He opened a board game, and I opened the most beautiful ring! Zach got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! We have waited a long time to start our lives together, and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!
